A lot of people did not play the wonderful adventure game Okami back when it came out on the PS2 in 2006. Now everyone who missed out has a chance to try it once again and it will now be in HD. Sure it doesn't look largely different, other than resolution, but Okami was always a gorgeous game with a beautiful sumi-e Japanese art style. You play as a wolf, who is a god, set in a distant time of Japanese history full of myths, legends and folklore. It is a Zelda type of game where you roam a big world, but you have to unlock new sections as you go along and you of course will find new weapons, new items and new friends along the way. Before I talk about Okami anymore take a look at the newly released HD trailer that shows the game in all its glory.
Okami was one of my favorite Playstation 2 games and I was so sad to see the developers, Clover Studio, go under shortly after the release of Okami. Capcom still owns the franchise and has since released the game on Wii and developed a sequel called Okamiden on Nintendo DS. Both of the games have received critical acclaim, but haven't done all that well sales wise. I'm not sure why more people didn't pick up Okami originally, maybe because you play as a wolf, or because everything has a zany mythological feel to it, but there is so much to enjoy in this game and I sincerely recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventure games.
Okami doesn't have a specific release date yet, but it will be coming out Fall 2012 on the Playstation Network for $19.99. Okami HD will also support the Playstation Move and it will be using that for the brush stroke system that you can see in the above trailer. They will also be adding achievements/trophies to the game and it will be released in North America and Europe. For more information about it check out the links below. Thanks for checking this out.
